244 Three Types of Assessment

It's an ongoing process that helps teachers gauge whether students understand the material being taught and allows students to receive feedback and adjust their learning strategies. Examples include quizzes, class participation, and exit tickets.
• Summative assessment is used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit or school year; it often takes the form of a test or final project.
